Bill Morrison is the President of Academy Energy Group. He is currently responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business, as well as working with their vendors and manufacturing partners to ultimately satisfy their customers’ requirements and needs.

 

Bill Morrison and Andy Lynch are the Founders and Principals of Academy Energy Group, an Electrical & Chemical Products Distributor.  We supply factory direct products, application engineering, and product selection services for Automation, Power, Lighting, Control, Renewable/Solar PV, and Chemical Products. AEG is a Verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our focus markets include targeted Corporations, Industrials, the Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), Engineering, Procurement and Construction firms (EPC), Design Build firms, General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, and Federal/State Government direct.

 

Bill has extensive corporate experience ranging from finance and operations to sales and P&L responsibility. Bill worked in three different divisions of the General Electric Company, GE Appliances, GE Lighting, and GE Supply. While at GE, Bill earned his Six Sigma Green Belt for problem solving, quality improvement, and process improvement. The experience he gained while working at GE created a strong business foundation, and set in motion his desire to build and run is own company.

 

Prior to his corporate career, Bill served in the United States Army as an Army Aviator. He served at Fort Rucker and Fort Campbell. He learned how to fly three different helicopters to include the Bell TH-67, the UH-1H Huey, and the UH-60 Blackhawk. He also served as an Assistant Battalion Operations Officer, an Assistant Battalion Supply Officer, and a Company Executive Officer. In 1999, Bill was in a helicopter accident where 7 of the 11 on board passed away. Bill was severely injured, to include an amputated leg, a broken back, and several other injuries. Bill was medically retired from the Army in 2000.

 

Bill says, “I don’t know why God blessed me that day, but I am trying to honor Him with my thoughts, words, and actions, and thank Him everyday for bringing great people into my life.”

 

Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Bill played Division I hockey while at West Point, and was co-captain in his senior season. Bill currently resides in Newburgh, Indiana with his wife Erin, and their three children, Griffen, Riley, and Lucy.
